Dr. Steinfeld's orthopaedic practice includes sports injuries, hip, knee, and shoulder reconstruction, general orthopaedics (including foot/ankle and hand surgery), as well as fracture care.
Dr. Steinfeld was born on February 5, 1966. His education and training have been unique and extensive. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison receiving a degree in Psychology. He was awarded his Medical Degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - The New Jersey Medical School in 1992. Dr. Steinfeld continued his education at the University of Tennessee-Physician Executive MBA Program and was awarded his Master's Degree in Business Administration in 2010.
Dr. Steinfeld completed his internship in General Surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After US Naval Flight Training at the Naval Aerospace Medical Institute, he spent three years as Flight Surgeon and Head of Aviation Medicine at Naval Air Station Key West. Dr. Steinfeld returned to the Mayo Clinic and completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery. He was then chosen to undertake a Clinical Fellowship in Knee Surgery with John Bartlett, MD, in Melbourne, Australia finishing in June 2001.
His military honors include the US Navy Achievement Medal for Heroic Achievement (1994), runner-up for the 1995 NAVAIRLANT Flight Surgeon of the Year, and the US Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service (1996). Academic Honors include the Mark B. Coventry Clinical Research Award and numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Carl P. DiLella, D.O.

Dr. DiLella is a board certified, sports medicine fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who has joined the Orthopaedic Center of Vero Beach after practicing in Chicago, Illinois for the first part of his career.
Dr. DiLella completed his undergraduate studies at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. He graduated cum laude with a degree in Psychology and was appointed to the Psi Chi honors fraternity. Dr. DiLella went on to earn his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then completed a rotating internship and residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Midwestern University/Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine. His residency training included specialty rotations with highly renowned surgeons at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Northwestern Memorial Hospital. During his residency training, Dr. DiLella was selected for an AO Trauma Fellowship. This program allowed him to train with accomplished orthopedic surgeons at the Spital Davos in Davos, Switzerland.
Following the completion of his residency, Dr. DiLella traveled to California to complete a Sports Medicine fellowship at the Los Angeles Orthopedic Institute. During his time there, he gained a vast experience with complex arthroscopic knee and shoulder procedures. He ultimately brought this experience back to Chicago and enjoyed many years of success. This lead to appointment as the head team physician and consultant for the Chicago Machine professional lacrosse team, as well as Chairman of the Department of Surgery at his hospital. Dr. DiLella also served as a member of his hospital Medical Executive Committee.
Dr. DiLella is excited for life and practice on the Treasure Coast. This will be shared with his wife and two sons, as well as with his parents who have resided in Vero Beach since their retirement.
Miquel Rivera, MD

Miguel A. Rivera, M.D. founded Florida Institute for Physical Rehabilitation. He has been practicing Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and Interventional Pain Management for over 10 years. His goal is to help those in obtaining relief and regaining a fulfilling lifestyle.
A graduate of University Autonomy of Guadalajara in 2002, Dr. Rivera went on to complete the Fifth Pathway Program at the New York Medical College, New York. After completing an internship in internal medicine at Hospital De La Concepcion, Ponce School of Medicine, he did a residency in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, Greenville, North Carolina. Upon successful completion of the residency, Dr. Rivera excelled in an interventional spine and pain management fellowship at The Kahan Center for Pain Management where he trained with Dr. Brian S. Kahan, one of the top interventional pain doctors.
Dr. Rivera has devoted much time to his profession. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation and the American Board of Pain Medicine. Dr. Rivera's special area of interest is to establish a comprehensive approach in the treatment of patients suffering from neuro-musculoskeletal pain and spine conditions. This treatment may involve the use of many modalities including physical therapy, neuro-musculoskeletal, intra-articular injections, regenerative medicine and X-ray guided spinal injections.
In his spare time, Dr. Rivera can be found with his wife and two boys on soccer fields, hiking, gardening, cooking, and water sports. He is fluent in English and Spanish.
Jay H. Johnston, MMS, PA-C
Jay Johnston is board certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants and is licensed with the Florida State Board of Medical Examiners. Jay is also a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.
Jay joined the staff at the Orthopaedic Center of Vero Beach in 2006. He graduated from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Microbiology in 2003. He then attended Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Florida where he earned his Masters degree in Medical Science and Bachelor of Science degree in Physician Assistant studies in 2006.
Jay moved to Vero Beach in 2006 with his family. In his spare time he enjoys playing golf, fishing, and spending time with his wife and three children.
